United States Fencing Association
The Western Pennsylvania Division (WPD) of the U.S. Fencing Association exists to promote fencing throughout the Western PA region, including parts of West Virginia. The WPD organizes fencing competitions and represents local fencers who are members of the USFA. Membership is offered to anyone interested in the sport of fencing.

Reminder: The Western Pa. Division annual meeting and Exec. Committee elections will be held 1PM this Sunday, June 27th at the:

If you are an eleigible voting member of the WPD, and you plan to attend the meeting, be sure to bring your signed proxy forms if you will be voting for another person(s).

Also, if coming by car, give yourself extra time to find a parking place. There will be a craft show going on at the Community Center on the same day / time as our meeting.

4 from WPD named to USFA All-American Academics Team

Four Western PA Division fencers were named to the USFA's Academic All-American "First Team," with GPAs of 3.85 to 4.0. They are David "Max" Findley (Three Rivers Fencing Center), Winchester Thurston High School; Josh Grill (Three Rivers), Allerdice High School; Gianfranco Trovato (Three Rivers), PA Cyber Charter School; and Olivia Weiss (Tiger Fencing Club), PA Cyber Charter School. Congratulations to all.

The program recognizes and rewards academic achievement in junior fencers, which the USFA believes is paramount to the success of US Fencing. The Junior Program is designed to provide a training ground for the development of young athletes. While physical development is obviously important, the program also stresses development of values, morals and social skills, which will remain with these future citizens all their lives. Fencers must apply to the program.

Meet Policy

The Division Policies and Procedures for hosting an event are available at this link.  Please contact Debbie Theriault at dtheriault@windstream.net  for information on hosting an event. Please check the Division Policies on hosting meets for up-to-date information. Because of the Division's stable financial situation, the Executive Committee has voted to decrease the Division's share of meet fees to 10% from 20%, allowing the host clubs to retain 90%. Other arrangements for hosting meets should be brought to the Division Executive Committee.
